CAP Week In Review –December 7, 8, and 10, 2004

This week we spent a lot of time in class finalizing our vision for our Action Project and coordinating the logistics to make it all happen. We have two weeks to coordinate everything before the holiday break, so it is go time! Here is what we have come up with so far…

  • Title: Transportation: From Pollution to Solution
  • Purpose/Description: From SUV’s to alternative vehicles and sustainability, the students of the Community Adventure Program at New Vista High School will facilitate a summit with a panel of experts to discuss how to make alternative vehicles more mainstream.
  • Date: Wednesday, January 5, 2005
  • Time: 2:30pm – 4:00pm
  • Location: New Vista High School, 700 20th Street, Boulder, CO 80302

In addition to working on our Action Project, we took a beautiful hike in Boulder Mountain Parks with Lynne Sullivan from the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks. Lynne did a wonderful job of teaching us about the general ecology of our backyard in Boulder and about the strategies plants and animals use to survive the harsh winter environment. The wind was brisk and I am proud of everyone for their excellent participation despite the harsh conditions!
