Give Where It Grows to Support 40+ Colorado Nonprofits that Provide Outdoor and Environmental Learning Experiences During Great Outdoors Month

June is National Great Outdoors Month, and the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education asks you to Give Where it Grows by donating to their incredible network of outdoor learning organizations, which includes Cottonwood Institute.

A Cottonwood Institute Instructor holds a tree sapling about to be planted for forest restoration.Outdoor and environmental learning helps people reconnect, to nature, to their communities, and to the power they have to create change.

When youth and communities work together for a healthier environment, they don’t just grow stronger—they build resilience, improve mental well-being, and develop the skills to lead with confidence.

YOU can help get students connected to nature and inspire them to protect it by supporting Cottonwood Institute and other outdoor organizations today and throughout the month!

Help more Coloradans grow with nature—and grow into changemakers.

Why to Give During Great Outdoors Month:

1. Outdoor Learning Grows Healthy Minds and Meaningful Connections
Whether it’s a preschooler playing in the mud or a teen restoring a trail, outdoor learning supports mental health, encourages curiosity, and builds strong relationships, with nature, with others, and with ourselves.

2. Outdoor Learning Benefits Everyone
From preschoolers planting seeds to teens tackling climate action, outdoor learning helps people of all ages build confidence, curiosity, and connection. These experiences don’t just transform individuals, they strengthen communities by fostering collaboration, resilience, and a more connected, caring world for us all.

3. You Choose Where to Give—and What to Grow
From local gardens to statewide programs, you can give to the people, places, and projects that matter most to you. Every gift plants a seed for future growth.

4. Your Generosity Grows More Than Knowledge
It grows calm. It grows confidence. It grows a community of people who care for the planet and each other. You’re not just donating. You’re making it possible for outdoor learning to do its best work.
