CI In The News (and on the Airwaves!)

We can understand if you’re looking for a break from the news after the last few weeks (or months…or year), but we know you don’t want to miss the latest updates from the world of Cottonwood Institute! With this in mind, we’ve helpfully collected these three recent updates—including, to our knowledge, CI Executive Director Ford Church’s first-ever podcast appearance:

Ford Church Staff ProfileRelish This Podcast: Caring Starts with Connections – Ford Church from the Cottonwood Institute

Ford sat down with Stuart Swineford of the Relish This podcast to tell the story of CI and talk about our approach to building relationships in the communities where we work. This was a great conversation and a fun way to share the news about what we’ve been up to! Be sure to check out the other episodes of Relish This which highlight some other great nonprofit organizations.

CI In The NewsShoutout Colorado: Meet Ford Church | Founder & Executive Director

Fresh off his podcast debut, Ford spoke to Shoutout Colorado Magazine about the history of Cottonwood Institute and the best advice he would give to someone thinking about starting their own nonprofit (spoiler: don’t do it!). Thank goodness he didn’t listen to his own advice… Ford also shared his itinerary for the perfect day of sightseeing around Denver. Would it surprise you to know that it involves practicing survival skills followed by a generous happy hour?

CI In the NewsBoulder Daily Camera: Lafayette Open Space to Hold Outdoor Program

Finally, CI’s Youth Stewardship Interns earned a writeup in the Daily Camera and Colorado Hometown Weekly in advance of an event they are put on last weekend in Lafayette. The intern cohort has been working with Lafayette Open Space’s Martin Ogle to complete restoration and stewardship projects in the city’s parks, and joined Ogle to present “Career Quest Outdoors; Connecting People and Nature Through ALL Careers.”
