About Changemakers
For students ready to take their leadership to the next level, the Changemakers Outdoor Leadership Corps offers a transformative, year-long experience for CAP alumni. This advanced program deepens students’ outdoor skills, leadership capacity, and civic engagement, equipping them to become powerful advocates for their communities and the environment– all at no cost to students and families.
As part of Changemakers, students design and lead a community-based Action Project that addresses a local environmental issue, gaining hands-on experience in grassroots problem-solving. Along the way, they earn Wilderness First Aid certification, plan and facilitate their own outdoor field days and overnight trips, and lead a culminating multi-day backpacking expedition. Participants leave with real-world leadership skills, a strong sense of agency, and a lasting commitment to environmental stewardship.
