4 Days in May Action Project Schedule

Alright, here is the play-by-play for the Community Adventure Program’s 2005 4-Days in May Action Project at New Vista High School:

  • Monday, May 9th, 2005: 9:00am-3:00pm – We will meet at New Vista High School in Room 200 and will meet Laurie Deiter with the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks. Laurie will give us a safety briefing and training for how to remove Myrtle Spurge in Open Space in the New Vista High School neighborhood. In the afternoon, we will canvass the NVHS neighborhood and hand out brochures to homeowners with Myrtle Spurge in their yards and collect addresses for the City of Boulder database project.
  • Tuesday, May 10th, 2005: 9:00am-3:00pm – We will meet at the NVHS in Room 200 and hike up to Gregory Canyon Gregory Canyon in Boulder Mountain Parks for a full day of environmental education, local ecology, plant id, and Myrtle spurge removal in Boulder Mountain Parks.
  • Wednesday, May 11th, 2005: 12:00pm – 8:00pm – We have a late start today and will meet at NVHS at 12:00pm. We will have lunch together, make final preparations for our table at the Boulder Farmer’s Market, and meet with Sean with the City of Boulder to review Myrtle Spurge database project. We will then set up our table at the Boulder County Farmer’s Market from 4:00pm-8:00pm and help educate Boulder Homeowners about the invasive plant Myrtle Spurge.
  • Thursday, May 12th, 2005: 9:00am-3:00pm – We will continue to canvass the NVHS neighborhood and hand out brochures to homeowners with Myrtle Spurge in their yards and collect addresses for the City of Boulder database project..

    To be prepared for our Action Project, please bring the following gear with you each day:

  • Small backpack
  • 2 water bottles
  • Rain gear tops and bottoms
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Sturdy boots and shoes
  • Long-sleeved shirt
  • Long pants
  • Leather gloves or gardening
