Cornhole Throwdown
OVERVIEW:
The Cornhole Throwdown is an annual event for fun, happy go-lucky people who want to practice the art of tossing a bean bag into a hole in a piece of decorated plywood, a.k.a. Cornhole, all for a good cause.
WHY CORNHOLE?
A more appropriate question should be why not? The Cornhole Throwdown raises money for the Cottonwood Institute to help support our programs to connect diverse students to the outdoors and empower them to take action to improve their schools, their communities, and the environment. It’s a noble cause.
WHEN IS IT?
Our next throwdown is scheduled for Saturday, August 20, 2011 from 11am – 5pm. Get there a little early if you want to get in a few practice tosses. The first official games will start at 11:30am sharp!
WHERE IS IT?
Washington Park in Denver, CO located at the northwest corner athletic fields just north of the offices for Volunteer For Outdoor Colorado.
HOW MUCH IS IT AND WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?
The cost to compete in this tournament of epic proportions is $50 per person ($100 per team). Each team consists of two people. Each competitor must be 21 or older. Your registration fee includes:
- A guarantee of 3 games of cornhole with a 4 team round robin format. The winner of each round robin will advance to the winners bracket.
- Once you are out of the cornhole tournament, you can compete in a side competition of 2×4 Jenga.
- Food and cold beverages will be available.
- Free chair massages by Momentum Massage.
- Really super cool prizes and giveaways (see below).
- A koozie for each registered participant to protect your cold beverages throughout the event.
- Remember, this is for charity and 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Cottonwood Institute, so do it for the kids people!

Thank you so much for everyone who participated in the first annual Cornhole Throwdown and for those who made a generous donation to help support our programs. 25 teams and 50 people participated in the event, we raised $5,000 to support our Three Trees and a River Project with West Denver Prep Charter School, and we had a great time!
