Physiology of Survival
The Cottonwood Institute is excited to offer a one-day Physiology of Survival course for schools and community organizations. Whether you are an avid outdoor enthusiast, a casual hiker, or obsessed with survival shows, this course could save your life.
During this course we will practice survival scenarios, learn survival priorities, practice medical scenarios, and learn what happens to the physiology of your body during a survival situation, at high altitude, during hypothermia, and during hyperthermia. This day will be action packed and very hands-on, so get ready to survive!
After completing this course, you will:
- Learn about heat loss and thermodynamics
- Practice medical scenarios, including altitude sickness, hypothermia, and hyperthermia
- Learn survival priorities
- Practice survival scenarios
- Practice building natural shelters
