Before you register for a Cottonwood Institute course, please
familiarize yourself with our organization and what to expect by
reviewing our course descriptions listed on our 2008 Summer Course Schedule page. If you have any questions or concerns about participating in a Cottonwood Institute program, please call us at 303.447.1076 or send us an Email.
In order to register for a Cottonwood Institute course, you must download and complete our Student Registration Form
if you are under 18 years old and our Adult Registration Form if you are 18 years old or older. You will need to submit your Registration Form along with a $200 non-refundable deposit to secure a spot in the course
you would like to attend. You may also pay for your course tuition in
full upon registering for your course. We register participants on
a first come, first serve basis and each course is limited to 12
participants. Courses can fill up quickly so make your plans today!
Payments must be received via check or money order made payable to the
Cottonwood Institute and your deposit will be applied to the balance of
your course fee. The remaining balance for your course tuition will be
due 60 days after we receive your non-refundable deposit and register
you on your course. The tuition balance and due date will be indicated
on an invoice sent to you with your course information packet. If you
register within 60 days of your course start date, you must pay in full
for your course tuition upon registering for your course.

Course Information Packet: Once we receive your deposit and have secured your spot in your course, we will send you a detailed course information packet with all the important information about your course, including, but not limited to:
- Course description
- Course itinerary
- Equipment list
- Transportation and lodging information
- Food and diet information
- Physical conditioning information
- Invoice
- * Assumption of Risk and Release Form
- * Medical and Health History Form
- * Health Care Practitioner Approval Form
- * Travel Information Form
*These forms must be completed and returned within 14 days of receipt to maintain your enrolled status in your course. If you register for a course less than 14 days before your course start date, please complete these forms and mail them in as soon as possible. All forms must me mailed to:

PLEASE NOTE: If you do not turn in your course paperwork on time or pay your tuition balance on time, you may be place on a Waiting List, which may jeopardize your spot in your course. Please fill out all of the required information as completely as possible and return your final payment for your course tuition on time to make sure your spot is secure!
Additional Expenses: Your course tuition covers professional instruction, group gear and equipment, and all meals once your course has begun. Your course tuition does not include personal equipment or travel and lodging expenses before and after your course starts. Your course information packet indicates what travel and lodging arrangements you will need to make as well as what personal gear you are responsible for buying, renting, or borrowing for your course so please make sure you have everything you need for your course. Participants may also want to bring spending cash for making purchases when we are traveling to and from our course site location. If you are receiving high school or college credit, you must pay the granting institution directly for school credit.

Refund and Cancellation Policy:
In the event that you have
to cancel your course more than 30 days before your course start date,
you will be refunded your course tuition less the $200 non-refundable
deposit. If you cancel your course between 29 and 14 days before your
course start date, you will be refunded 50% of your course tuition. If
you have to cancel your course 13 days or less before your course start
date, we will unfortunately be unable to refund any of your course
tuition due to unrecoverable costs to prepare for your course.
Transfer Policy: If you would like to transfer to another course 30 days or more from your original course start date, you will be charged a $50 transfer fee to cover administrative costs. If you transfer to another course 29 days or less from your original course start date, the cancellation and refund policies listed above will apply. We highly recommend getting trip cancellation insurance from Travel Guard to protect your course investment if you have to unexpectedly cancel your course at the last minute or if you miss your flight before your course starts. Once a course starts in the field, it will not be possible to join the course once it is in progress. Please call (800) 826-1300 for more information about trip cancellation insurance.
Waiting List: If the course you would like to register for is full, we can place you on a waiting list for that particular course on a first come, first serve basis. To get on the waiting list, please mail a refundable $50 Waiting List deposit along with the Registration Information listed above to the Cottonwood Institute mailing address listed above. If a space does not open up in the course you would like to register for, we will gladly refund your deposit in full. If a space does open up on your course, we will contact you to see if you still want the space. If you still want to register for the course, you will need to mail in the remaining $150 for your course registration deposit and the $200 you have paid for the course so far will become a non-refundable deposit. If you switch from the waiting list and become enrolled in a course less than 60 days before your course start date, you will need to mail in the remaining balance of your course tuition before you will be officially enrolled in your course.
