On Friday, we went beyond the classroom to learn about the local ecology of Boulder and to start thinking about what it means to have a sense of place. Lynne Sullivan, from the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, taught us about the basic ecology of Boulder as well as winter survival strategies of local animals, birds, amphibians, and insects. This information is an important foundation for understanding our stratgies for staying warm on our first winter camping trip. Great job on Friday everyone!

With this crazy bunch of cool cats, I know that this will be another amazing quarter with the Community Adventure Program at New Vista High School. Last Friday, we took a hike up to Chautauqua Park to get to know each other outside of the classroom and to become familiar with what was going on in our backyard. It was nice to get out and take advantage of the unseasonably warm weather!
